01

Ferroelectric liquid crystals

FLCs switch in microseconds rather than milliseconds. Our microdisplays use a 0.75 µm FLC layer that switches in under 200 µs.

02

Analog greyscale

Conventional FLCoS is binary and needs pulse-width modulation for greyscale. Our analog FLC mode, a world first, gives continuous greyscale. Reflected light output is the same in the positive and DC-balance frames, so the illumination never needs to switch off and no brightness is lost.

03

Sharp, high-contrast images

FLC is immune to fringing fields, so pixels stay independent with zero pixel crosstalk, even at 3.6 µm pitch (4K, 7056 PPI). Contrast exceeds 1000:1.

04

Field-sequential colour

Red, green and blue fields are shown in quick succession at field rates above 720 Hz, which suppresses colour break-up without colour filters.
