FLCoG optical circuit switch technology
Solid-state 2D beam steering with ferroelectric liquid crystal on glass.

FLC-on-glass beam steering
Our world-first ferroelectric-liquid-crystal-on-glass (FLCoG) 2D beam-steering unit routes light between fibres with no moving parts and low-voltage drive.
Microsecond reconfiguration
FLC switching gives a design target of under 100 µs, roughly 100–1000× faster than MEMS or nematic liquid-crystal switches, so AI clusters spend less time waiting for the network.
Bistable optical memory
Bistable FLC holds a route without power and switches with a single pulse.
Scalable glass platform
Glass panels are not limited by silicon backplane size. Our first 16×16 switch is designed to scale beyond 256×256 ports with low insertion loss.
How it compares
| Standard LCoS | MEMS switches | SCOS FLCoG (target) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Switching time | ~100 ms | ~25 ms | <100 µs |
| Moving parts | No | Yes | No |
| Drive voltage | Low | High | Low |
